Course overview
This course will consolidate students' competency in professional practice reflecting the integration of social work values, knowledge and skills, and through an independent piece of research contribute to the social work body of knowledge. Students will undertake a supervised placement opportunity to further develop their social work skills, practice and knowledge, and will apply advanced research skills to a research project of relevance to the professional mission of the host organisation.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate advanced social work practice and professional judgement in a selected setting.
- Develop appropriate and integrated specialised social work intervention strategies and applying these with a diverse group of clients.
- Work collaboratively and inter-professionally within and across organisational boundaries on behalf of clients to achieve social change.
- Demonstrate knowledge of research principles and cognitive and technical skills in the planning and execution of a substantial research-based project to advance the host organisation's social justice mission.
- Meet the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Practice Standards to the required level.
