Course overview
This course aims to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of international, national and state policies and legislation concerning children’s wellbeing and protection. It also aims to develop students’ ability to apply this framework to identify and respond to the needs of children/young people and their families in Australia. The course is designed to offer a theoretically informed understanding of the political, social, and professional context of working with children and young people and will explore the place of systems and communities in supporting child wellbeing. Students will develop knowledge and competencies in working with children and families from diverse backgrounds applying anti-oppressive, culturally safe and trauma-informed practice models.
