Course overview

This course will enable students to further develop the skills to apply professional practice frameworks within the social work context. The focus of the course is to review content, knowledge and skills from earlier courses in the program and to apply this course work to realistic practice scenarios to enable students to develop an integrated theoretical framework for placement. The course will assist students to prepare for placement by critically analysing the diverse organisational and environmental contexts in which they will do their placements. Students will examine and apply the AASW Code of Ethics and prepare for ethical issues that will occur in practice. Students will also begin to apply theoretical frameworks to their future practice contexts. Students will learn and apply models of reflective practice to build professional social work identity and purposeful practice. Students will review their learning requirements for placement and prepare for professional supervision on placement.
