Course overview

In this course, students research potential pathways and destinations in sectors that align with their disciplinary choices, interests and aspirations. Students develop and draw on skills and capabilities in (auto)ethnography and narrative inquiry, participating in experiential learning activities, guided reflection, engaging with and supported by potential community/industry partners. The outcome of their research is to identify and articulate their next steps towards securing a society and culture internship in an organisation of meaning and relevance to their future selves.

Course learning outcomes

  • Engage with peers, community and industry partners to collaboratively explore their fit in particular sectors and organisations
  • Observe and take fieldnotes of their engagement experiences
  • Create a dynamic text that communicates their future-facing career narrative
  • Reflect on and reflexively plan for their future engagement with chosen sectors/organisations
