Course overview
This course provides students with a critical and historical understanding of cultural policy in Australia, different models of funding and government intervention through a series of national and global case studies. Students will learn how to evaluate cultural policy, question what constitutes an 'Australian Story', who gets to tell those stories, and how they are influenced by the policy ecosystem that surrounds them. Finally, students will explore the relationship between policy and social change, examining various forms of activism and advocacy in the arts and cultural landscape.

- Analyse cultural and creative policies in relation to the contexts of their emergence
- Evaluate different models of cultural and creative funding in Australia and overseas
