Course overview

This is an elective course in the Graduate Certificate in Research Skills and Master of Research programs intended to provide an introduction to the use of advanced computational and modelling techniques in a variety of research disciplines. The course will introduce methods for analysing very large data sets using artificial intelligence and high performance computation. Some key data repositories accessible to researchers in different disciplines will be identified. Methods of accessing HPC and data resources will be discussed.

Course learning outcomes

  • Identify sources of data, computational resources and/or tools for modelling and analysing data relevant to a specific area of research
  • Devise a data collection or access, analysis and modelling plan for processing data relevant to a specific area of research
  • Use modelling tools and computational resources to analyse research data.
