Course overview
This is an elective course in the Graduate Certificate in Research Skills and Master of Research programs intended to provide an introduction to the use of quantitative methods in research in the humanities and social sciences. The focus will be on the logic of quantitative reasoning and its application to practical problems in sociological research. The course will focus on survey research and statistical techniques to analyse data collected in surveys, and identify other sources of quantitative data, including data compiled by various Australian government agencies.

Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate the ability to design, justify, and implement quantitative research methodologies appropriate to specific research contexts and ethics in the humanities and social sciences.
- Critically evaluate, conduct and interpret qualitative data sets, applying relevant principles and appropriate analyses to draw meaningful conclusions.
