Course overview

This is a core course in the Graduate Certificate in Research Skills and Master of Research programs intended to provide an introduction to the principles of research ethics and integrity and regulatory requirements for those who have no significant prior learning of research methods and skills. It forms a foundation from which further development of research skills can be undertaken through further coursework, and through the conduct of supervised research. Students will learn about the responsible conduct of research, specifically as covered by the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of research. Relevant legislation pertaining to human and animal ethics will be introduced. General principles of ethical professional conduct, including management of conflicts of interest will be introduced.
