Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop specialised knowledge of biopsychosocial constructs underpinning musculoskeletal conditions requiring physiotherapy input, and advanced assessment and management skills for selected conditions across the lifespan. Specialised knowledge of the pathology of common conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system across the lifespan. Students will learn how to assess a variety of peripheral and spinal musculoskeletal conditions and the theoretical basis and safe use of electrophysical agents. Students will incorporate principles of clinical reasoning into the application of assessment and management techniques appropriate for musculoskeletal environments.

  • Demonstrate a critical knowledge of selected techniques required for effective assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions across the lifespan.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and safe practice with the application of specific physiotherapy skills..
  • Accurately record physiotherapy clinical assessment findings and interventions that meet legal and professional requirements.
