Course overview
In this course, students will design and undertake a professional project and disseminate the project rationale, process and outcomes to an audience both within and outside the discipline. Students will work under the guidance of a team of professional mentors to design, implement and report on a professional project of significance to their discipline. Coursework will include education on working in teams, project management and professional writing and presenting.
Course learning outcomes
- Identify the information and processes needed to achieve an agreed objective and design the necessary laboratory, field or computer-based investigation to obtain this, whilst complying with all relevant internal and external policy.
- Justify the validity of the investigation devised, including consideration of any ethical concerns or approvals required.
- Critically review and report on the process and findings of the project in a professional manner both written and oral, acceptable to a client, employer, or funding body.
- Demonstrate professional planning, time management and organisational skills to complete the project on time and within budget.
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a professional team, displaying both leadership and self-reliance.
