Course overview
The aim of this course is to provide students with extended physiotherapy skills through a broad knowledge base and understanding of the principles of Workplace Health and Safety, and practical experience in working with employees, management and other relevant stakeholders. Directed work health and safety theory and legislation, application of physiotherapy principles to promoting health and safety in the workplace, industry placements to experience, evaluate and address workplace wellness and safety issues.
Course learning outcomes
- Undertake activities in alignment with work related legislation, acts, standards, codes of practice, and guidelines in Australia.
- Apply a risk management approach appropriately to frame activities and generate solutions to complex industry-based problems.
- Demonstrate advanced communication skills to convey analysis of data and synthesis of evidence-based information to stakeholders across a variety of media.
- Conduct all activities professionally, demonstrating advanced understanding of ethical, inclusive, and culturally safe occupational physiotherapy practice in industry.
- Demonstrate understanding of the importance of sustainable economic growth, and the role of physiotherapy in achieving full and productive employment and decent work for all.
