Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop knowledge and skills of physiotherapy practice with people across the lifespan who have cardiorespiratory, neurological or orthopaedic conditions requiring physiotherapy input in acute and rehabilitation settings. Pathophysiology, biopsychosocial constructs, physiotherapy assessment and management techniques, and interprofessional, person-centred approaches to management of selected cardiorespiratory, neurological and orthopaedic conditions across the lifespan. Principles and application of skills for safe, professional manual handling in acute and rehabilitation settings.

Course learning outcomes

  • Discuss the pathophysiological and biopsychosocial constructs of selected conditions across the life span.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective manual handling.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective assessment and management techniques for selected conditions across the lifespan and health settings.
