Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop foundational knowledge of, and skills related to, clinical reasoning and common conditions requiring physiotherapy assessment and management. Theory and application of clinical reasoning in physiotherapy, group work, biopsychosocial model of health, ICF framework, foundational assessment and management techniques related to common conditions, exercise development and prescription.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the hypothetico-deductive model of clinical reasoning and its application in physiotherapy practice.
  • Describe the biopsychosocial constructs related to common chronic conditions.
  • Demonstrate understanding of therapeutic exercise assessment and prescription principles and the ability to safely and effectively apply to a range of common chronic conditions.
  • Demonstrate principles and application of foundational assessment and management techniques relevant to physiotherapy practice in a safe, effective and professional environment.
