Course overview
This course will provide the student with the advanced knowledge, skills and attitudes required to practice autonomously and responsibly with expert judgement and adaptability as an accredited medical sonographer, as described in the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) Program Accreditation Guidelines. Preparation of a clinical portfolio detailing and authenticating the student's clinical knowledge and skills in cardiac or vascular sonography.
Course learning outcomes
- Use integrated knowledge of relevant anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, ultrasound physics, and image optimisation to demonstrate competence in the performance of specialist sonographic examinations.
- Deliver safe, patient centred services.
- Practice effectively and problem solve within professional and ethical frameworks.
- Communicate effectively with patients and other professionals across a range of contexts.
