Course overview
The aim of this course is to consolidate the knowledge and skills gained in the academic program to the Medical Imaging clinical environment. Clinical skills development to complement and enhance theoretical knowledge gained in the academic environment.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a near entry level professional knowledge of scope of clinical skills and practice underpinning Medical Imaging including principles, clinical application, procedures, participation with other health care members, information management, confidentiality, scope of practice and role within team.
- Participate in the development and support of a beginning student, using reflection to assess their needs and build mentoring skills.
- Demonstrate problem solving in the workplace at a near professional entry level.
- Act ethically, professionally and in a safe manner by adhering to relevant codes of conduct, radiation safety guidelines and legislation, University of South Australia's clinical policies and the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards (where applicable to clinical practice).
- Operate effectively as an autonomous responsible practitioner to demonstrate near entry level knowledge of radiographic practice, projections, equipment, image appraisal across a broad range of examinations, and perform examinations up to a high level of difficulty.
- Fulfil duty of care and communicate and act with respect to individuals, carers, and colleagues in clinical practice at a professional entry level.
