Course overview

This course provides an experiential placement opportunity in a public health and wellbeing practice role. In this course you will gain insights into the typical kinds of work public health graduates may encounter as professionals. By actively participating in a real-world placement experience, you will have an opportunity to link your academic learning to careers; and an opportunity to reflect on your development as a health professional. This course will provide you with opportunity to demonstrate professional behaviours required in the workplace.

Course learning outcomes

  • Formulate and explain objectives or deliverables for an industry placement which directly links theory to industry needs
  • Explore the possibilities for employment in public health industries and develop a job search strategy
  • Demonstrate, and critically self-assess, professional competencies and ability to interact effectively in a workplace setting
  • Explain how public health discipline knowledge and practices are applied within the industry placement
