Course overview
This course seeks to develop your understanding of how living and working in rural or remote Australia influences people’s health and how we can use public health approaches and Indigenous perspectives to address their health needs and promote and protect the health of rural and remote populations. In this course you will develop critical thinking in appraising contemporary models of rural and remote health service delivery, policies and strategies and develop creative problem-solving skills in addressing the needs of rural and remote populations.
Course learning outcomes
- Describe the influence of rurality and remoteness on the health of individuals and communities
- Evaluate health issues faced by rural and remote Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Australia with an appropriate conceptual framework
- Critically describe rural and remote health service models and health strategies
