Course overview

How do you measure and assess the psychological capabilities, health, and attributes of people? In this course, students will gain an understanding of the knowledge necessary to select, deploy, and interpret psychometric instruments in a variety of settings. Students will learn how to appropriately integrate these skills into ethical and culturally responsive practice. Key aspects of the course include the application of knowledge in the context of digital and emerging technologies.

Course learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of psychometric theory in a variety of settings.
  • Determine and integrate basic assessment strategies in situations appropriate to psychological practice.
  • Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the construction, implementation, and interpretation of standardised psychological test instruments.
  • Integrate ethical and culturally responsive practices in the use of standardised psychological test instruments.
  • Critically reflect on principles of effective psychological measurement and assessment in the context of digital and emerging technologies.
