Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop students' ability to identity and address ethical and legal issues associated with the practice of psychology. Students will develop knowledge of the professional, ethical, and legal aspects of clinical psychology practice. This will include coverage of the APS Code of Ethics and as well as other relevant current legislation from Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA).
Course learning outcomes
- Differentiate between and consider particular ethical dilemmas and legal questions when interacting with members of the public, psychologists, and other professionals
- Understand ethical issues in various clinical psychology settings and how to appropriately manage them.
- Effectively communicate clinical psychologists' ethical obligations to clients and other professionals
