Course overview
The aim of this course is to develop and apply knowledge of basic and advanced clinical skills for observing, assessing, and communicating with clients. The aim of this course is to introduce students to the ethics involved with assessing and initiating contact with clients including, but not limited to, informed consent procedures. Students will develop knowledge of the principles of psychotherapy and will build basic counselling skills, including interviewing skills, micro skills, and ethical considerations (informed consent and confidentiality). Students develop skills and knowledge based on a scientist-practitioner model emphasising the use of evidence-based skills.
