Course overview

This course is designed to provide students with insights into the nature of psychology as a profession. Students gain will insight into the challenges associated with providing services to complex populations. Topics may vary from one year to the next, but will typically include material relating to: psychology in health and medical contexts such as interviewing and interprofessional practice.

Course learning outcomes

  • Have more confidence in your ability to demonstrate interpersonal communication and interview skills in situations appropriate to psychological practice and research.
  • Demonstrate the key skills required for effective interpersonal communication and interviewing.
  • Have more awareness of the areas that you need to develop further, in order to develop your interpersonal communication and interviewing skills, including appropriate cultural responsiveness.
