Course overview
The aim of this course is for students to recognise, articulate, and apply their skills as a psychological scientist by undertaking a 100-hour Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience. A variety of WIL experiences will be offered, including industry-based, research-based, and virtual internships, where you will work to respond to contemporary societal challenges. These experiences are designed to help you apply your psychological knowledge and skills to a diverse range of real-world work situations to enhance your employability and make a meaningful contribution to the community.
Course learning outcomes
- Apply psychological knowledge, theory and skills to professional contexts in a meaningful, reflexive, culturally appropriate manner that is sensitive to diversity
- Employ appropriate interpersonal skills and teamwork within a professional context and demonstrate behaviour that is respectful and culturally appropriate
- Effectively communicate psychology-related knowledge and skills in written and/or oral formats
- Identify and communicate the specific skills and values that a psychology qualification can offer across a range of professional settings and contexts and demonstrate ongoing reflexivity regarding one’s psychological knowledge and skills, values, strengths, and intended career pathway
