Course overview

The aim of this course is to teach students how to apply, interpret and communicate insights from organisational, cross-cultural and community psychology. Students will develop the skills and knowledge they gained in the Year 1 and 2 courses, to further enhance their understanding of psychology as it applies to real-world social contexts. The focus of this course will be on the student's ability to interpret psychological theories related to organisations and communities, with a focus on identifying solutions drawn from diverse psychological approaches.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply principles, theories, concepts, and methods of organisational and/or community psychology to a scenario with real-world relevance.
  • Reflexively evaluate a contemporary organisational or community challenge using a variety of psychological approaches and methods.
  • Evaluate aspects of cultural diversity and inclusive practices as applied to organisations or communities to the standards of cultural safety.
  • Critically assess psychological approaches for their relevance and cultural responsiveness to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations and communities.
  • Reflect on individual and peer contributions to collaborative thinking and decision-making to enhance self-awareness and personal growth
