Course overview
This course aims to develop an advanced understanding of principles, theories and research related to psychology of individuals, with a focus on applied cognition, perception, attention and learning, and personality and individual differences. The course builds on from the second year course, Insights into Individual Behaviour and Cognition, and students will apply this advanced knowledge to real world issues and problems, considering ethics and cultural biases that exist in psychology related to individuals. Assessment will demonstrate achievement of core psychological literacy skills, such as understanding of appropriate values and ethics in psychology and self-directed pursuit of scholarly inquiry.

- Interpret and critically evaluate advanced psychological knowledge claims in the context of theories of individual psychology
- Demonstrate application of advanced theories of individual cognition and behaviour in an applied context
- Communicate the real-world application of individual psychological theory to solve a problem using APA conventions in both written and/or oral formats
- Explore aspects of cultural diversity and the importance of inclusive practices in psychological research and application
- Evaluate the ethical principles underpinning psychology research methods and assessment practices related to individuals
