Course overview

This course will develop students' understanding of key psychological concepts relevant to human services and health care practice. Students will be introduced to psychology as a science, including the biological bases of psychology such as the structure and function of the brain and cognitive processes. The course will cover states of consciousness, developmental stages from childhood to adulthood, learning theories, personality, emotion and motivation, stress and health, and abnormal psychology. Additionally, students will explore key psychological theories and their practical applications, equipping them with skills and knowledge for understanding and addressing real-world issues in human service professions.
