Course overview

This course aims to equip learners with advanced and integrated knowledge and skills to plan, execute, and manage procurement and contract activities throughout a project lifecycle. Students will explore various theoretical concepts and practical procurement processes, including procurement planning, solicitation methods, procurement and contracting strategies, tendering procedures, drafting specifications, evaluation techniques, ethical procurement practices, and the application of contract law. The course also covers contract administration, closeout procedures, supply chain management, and strategies for resolving contract disputes. This course aligns with the program’s intent to provide advanced understanding and technical skills necessary for effective project management.

Course learning outcomes

  • Evaluate advanced procurement and contract management processes throughout a project lifecycle and implement them in real-life scenarios to optimise project outcomes.
  • Critically analyse complex project procurement and contractual issues and propose innovative and actionable solutions.
  • Apply advanced procurement knowledge and techniques to develop a comprehensive project procurement plan that respects cultural diversity and considers sustainability and ethical factors.
  • Demonstrate advanced communication skills to effectively articulate procurement and contract management concepts, information, and decisions to diverse stakeholders.
  • Show leadership and team management skills in tasks that require negotiating, collaborating, and leading within the context of project procurement and contract management.
