Course overview
The aim of this course is to introduce students to global politics and development studies and to develop skills in critical analysis. Introduction to global politics, development and global political economy; human rights and human security in global politics; Australia's overseas aid program; Australia's relationship with other countries in Asia; awareness of ethnic and cultural diversity for journalists; inequality and development; formal and informal politics in Australia.

- Interpret relevant concepts within international politics and development
- Critically analyse the politics of international development
- Critically analyse media reporting on international politics and development
