Course overview
This course aims to equip students with core knowledge and understanding of the Australian political system focusing on key political institutions such as parliament, cabinet, federalism, the constitution, High Court, parties, and the public service. The course explains how the Australian political system works, highlighting both the formal structures and informal practices that shape Australian politics, especially in regard to the social, political and economic factors that enable or constrain their introduction. These understandings will develop critical insights into how Australian government operate and provide the necessary foundation for undertaking subsequent courses in the political major.

- Examine the context and history of human rights and social justice issues as they pertain to political practice
