Perform a literature review to identify knowledge gaps.
Develop and present a research proposal.
Conduct research and present findings in both written (thesis or scientific publication) and oral forms.

Course learning outcomes

  • Research Plan - Develop a research plan, based on critical analysis of scientific literature demonstrating a detailed physical understanding of an advanced topic in physics;
  • Design and Execute Scientific Experiments - Plan, conduct, and meticulously document scientific experiments to test hypotheses, ensuring accurate maintenance of research records and a data management plan
  • Analyse and Interpret Scientific Data - demonstrate specialised analytical, interpretation and critical evaluation skills and techniques necessary to carry out research in an advanced topic in physics;
  • Communicate Scientific Research - Effectively present scientific research findings in both written and oral forms, tailoring communication to both specialist and general audiences.
  • Adhere to Scientific Ethical and Regulatory Standards - Understand and apply ethical principles and regulatory requirements relevant to Physics, and professional standards essential for conducting responsible scientific research.
