Course overview

This course is designed for students who have not completed SACE Stage 2 Physics (or equivalent) and introduces the concepts, laws and methods of physics, equipping them for further study in physics.

  • Mechanics
  • Electricity And Magnetism
  • Waves, Light And Modern Physics

Course learning outcomes

  • Use the fundamental laws, principles, and concepts in physics to describe, explain and predict the qualitative behaviour of simple physical systems
  • Use structured problem-solving techniques to analyse and solve problems involving simple physical systems quantitatively
  • Work in a team to solve problems and conduct experimental work
  • Apply standard measurement and data analysis techniques when conducting experimental work
  • Document and explain experimental work, including any conclusions drawn
