Course overview

This course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to analyse DNA sequences and interpret the significant patterns discovered. The course provides an understanding of the specific considerations of different sequencing technologies and data analysis algorithms, such as those used to align, assemble, and annotate sequence data. In addition, the course will cover key data management skills, reproducibility, and integrity principles, such as FAIR and CARE. This course provides modern computational biology techniques that are essential to modern biotechnology.

  • Fundamentals Of Bioinformatics
  • Pathogens And Metagenomics
  • Reproducible Science

Course learning outcomes

  • Employ command-line tools to analyse small, real-world biological sequence data sets
  • Interpret the results of bioinformatic analyses in a biological context
  • Implement approaches to ensure the reproducibility of a research analysis using modern programming tools
  • Employ effective techniques to communicate results of bioinformatic analyses
  • Choose and justify the appropriate technology, strategy, and analysis for various bioinformatics projects
