Course overview
The aim of this course is to further develop the students' understanding of humans as occupational beings and relationship with their health and well-being. Dimensions and theories of human occupation and human evolution, human capacities, occupational language, occupational balance, occupational alienation, occupational deprivation, occupational identity, occupational adaptation, occupational justice and occupational transitions.
Course learning outcomes
- Analyse the implications of conceptualising humans as occupational beings.
- Describe and critique theoretical models of understanding occupation.
- Critically apply contemporary occupational science concepts.
- Analyse the contribution of engagement in occupations to health and well being in specific cases.
- Discuss the relationship between the discipline of occupational science and the profession of occupational therapy.
