Course learning outcomes
- In collaboration with relevant interdisciplinary team members, conduct a comprehensive assessment and document a plan of care for people across the lifespan in the health care setting
- Implement safe and effective evidence-based person-centred nursing care for people in the health care setting to achieve identified health outcomes
- Employ problem-solving skills and research evidence to critically analyse and update a plan of care to meet the continuing needs of the person(s) within the health care setting
- Demonstrate appropriate communication strategies to promote an optimal physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual environment for people in health care settings
- Critically reflect on the role of the registered nurse and elucidate the strategies that can be devised to facilitate the safe transition from student nurse to registered nurse
- Apply analytical skills in accessing health information and research evidence in the provision of person-centred nursing care
- Evaluate own nursing practice in accordance with professional standards, legal and ethical policies and codes of practice and revise where appropriate
- Demonstrates the principles associated with the safe administration of medications, including pharmacological perspectives
