Course overview
To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of pharmacology and, pharmacotherapeutics, to evaluate clinical and diagnostic data and prepare to prescribe within the context of midwifery practice.
Course learning outcomes
- Critically analyse and synthesize advanced pharmacological concepts and their applications in midwifery, demonstrating a mastery of essential pharmacology that informs clinical practice
- Exhibit advanced proficiency in pharmacotherapeutics, integrating comprehensive knowledge and skills to enhance the safe supply and administration of medicines within midwifery practice
- Critically evaluate and navigate the ethical and legal complexities associated with pharmacotherapeutics in midwifery, demonstrating an ability to apply ethical reasoning and legal principles in real-world scenarios
- Analyse and critique the integration of complementary therapies in midwifery practice, assessing their efficacy, safety, and applicability to provide holistic patient care
- Demonstrate expert knowledge and application of the principles of quality use of medicines, ensuring safe, effective, and accountable midwifery practice that meets the highest standards of healthcare delivery
- Apply the principles of prescribing according to the National Prescribing Services (NPS) competencies framework showcasing a high level of autonomy and professionalism in pharmacological management within midwifery

If you are an international student, or a domestic student studying in a full fee paying place, and are continuing study that you commenced in 2025 or earlier, your fees will be available here before enrolments open for 2026.
