Course overview
The aim of this course is to enable students to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes commensurate with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice, in the provision of nursing care across diverse contexts of nursing practice.

Course learning outcomes
- Conduct a comprehensive patient/client assessment to develop and evaluate a plan of care for a patient/client in consultation with individuals/groups, significant others and the interprofessional healthcare team
- Implement comprehensive safe and effective evidence-based nursing care to achieve identified health outcomes
- Evaluate and revise a plan of care to meet continuing needs of the individual/group
- Demonstrate appropriate communication strategies to promote an optimal physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual environment for individuals/groups
- Analyse and synthesise health information and research evidence in the provision of person-centered nursing care
- Demonstrate professional accountability and responsibility for own learning, practice and ongoing professional development and evaluate own professional practice in accordance withlegal and ethical policies and codes of practice and revise where appropriate
