- Explore the application of primary and public health policy, concepts and principles to nursing practice
- Explore the role of the registered nurse in health promotion and provision of health education to individuals, groups, communities and populations
- Develop a client-centred health promotion/health education strategy that addresses social, political, cultural and environmental determinants of health and the immediate problems facing an individual, group, community or population
- Evaluate the outcomes of health education and health promotion strategies for individuals, groups, communities and populations
- Critically analyse the challenges of meeting health care needs of rural and remote populations
- Evaluate the contribution of the registered nurse to effective inter-disciplinary teamwork in the management of clients in primary health care settings
