Course learning outcomes

  • Appraise and reflect on the role of the Registered Nurse in delivering patient and family-centred care to infants, children, adolescents, and their families
  • Conduct and document a comprehensive health assessment for an infant, child and adolescent which is compassionate, holistic and promotes respectful partnerships
  • Apply current evidence to develop, implement and critically evaluate a person- and family-centred plan of care for infants, children, and adolescents with health problems
  • Describe strategies to promote safety and well-being of infants, children and adolescents that comply with relevant legislation, standards, and policies
  • Apply knowledge of relevant pathophysiology and pharmacology in the management of infants, children, and adolescents with health problems
  • Analyse the cultural, legal and ethical considerations related to caring for infants, children and adolescents with health problems
