Course overview

In the Portfolio class course, students refine and curate the repertoire they've acquired in the first two years of Song Repertoire, preparing it for professional auditions and the next stage of their careers. Students will produce a personalised and polished portfolio of repertoire, and the essential skills needed to succeed in the competitive musical theatre industry. Students will also learn and apply micro credentials to assist in navigating the ever-changing audition landscape in professional Music Theatre spaces. 

Course learning outcomes

  • Develop a diverse repertoire of prepared songs from the broad canon of music theatre studied to a professional standard for audition and performance purposes.
  • Demonstrate a synthesis of voice, body and mind in a complete musical performance with an authentic sense of individual expression and creativity.
  • Demonstrate a connection to text and the nuances of language and meaning.
  • Create sophisticated and layered characterisations that deliver dramatic complexity with ease and simplicity.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to select appropriate repertoire for auditions.
