Course overview
This course will provide students with a theoretical and practical understanding of music performance through theory studies, solo, ensemble performance and audio production. Students work in both solo and ensemble contexts and apply professional practice through skills development, discipline and teamwork. Students learn practical performance techniques and ensemble conducting through various genres and styles such as popular and classical music, jazz and musical theatre. The course covers music theory through sight-reading, notation, transcription, composition and arrangement exercises. Principles of audio production are applied to the recording of students' musical work. The course caters for students with varying proficiency in theory and practice. Students are prepared for both educational and industry pathways.
