- Discriminate between different types of published articles.
- Decide on the validity of studies presented in surgical journals
- Gain an understanding of statistics that are used in surgical journals
- Determine whether conclusions reached in published articles are valid
- Have coordinated and completed a research project
- Write the results of the project in a format suitable for publication in a peer reviewed journal
- Present the project to a local student group
