Course overview
The course will provide comprehensive clinical training to a high level of competency in the practice of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Course learning outcomes
- Appreciate how to perform minimally invasive surgery techniques at a high level of competency under supervision.
- Demonstrate operative techniques by using a high fidelity computerised virtual laparoscopic skills trainer with haptic feedback.
- Be aware of the equipment and instrumentation used in minimally invasive surgery.
- Understand how to review audio visual material on minimally invasive surgical cases.
- Understand the emphasis of pre-operative patient assessments and counselling.
- Understand the importance of post-operative case management.
- Demonstrate knowledge of suturing, surgical simulators, models and methods of virtual trainers and techniques in minimally invasive surgery.
