Course overview

This course encourages students to carry out their own research into relevant topics within minimally invasive surgery. At the end of the course they will have researched and identified a suitable research project which is suitable for submission to an ethics committee.

Course learning outcomes

  • Understand the nature of clinical research.
  • Be aware of the ethical conduct of research.
  • Explore the area of research fraud.
  • Prepare a draft research proposal and the associated ethics submission for review.
  • Submit finalised ethics submission to local ethics committee for consideration.
