Course overview
This course explores the theory and practice of transmedia storytelling as a strategic communication approach for brands, organisations, and social causes. Students will learn how to develop immersive narrative experiences that engage audiences across multiple platforms and channels. The course covers key concepts such as world-building, audience engagement, platform mapping, and measuring the impact of transmedia campaigns. Through case studies and hands-on projects, students will gain skills in crafting compelling transmedia narratives aligned with specific communication goals.

Course learning outcomes
- pply transmedia storytelling theories and concepts to develop comprehensive narrative worlds (story worlds) and immersive brand experiences for strategic communication purposes
- Analyse and evaluate existing transmedia storytelling campaigns and narratives across various contexts and industries
- Critically examine and discuss the role of transmedia storytelling in contemporary popular culture, marketing, and strategic communication contexts
- Design audience journeys and map narratives across multiple platforms and channels for effective engagement
- Create original transmedia content tailored to specific platforms, leveraging the unique affordances and storytelling techniques of each medium
- Develop and present a comprehensive transmedia storytelling strategy and campaign proposal for a brand, organisation, or specific communication goal
