Course overview
This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills required to undertake advanced communication and media research in a professional setting. Students will build a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of research design and implementation, including the research methodologies and ethical research practices used in communication and media, utilising qualitative and quantitative data collection methods, and approaches to both manual and computational data analysis. Students will have a solid foundation on which to expand and apply advanced understanding of research processes to their research endeavours.

Course learning outcomes
- Explain and analyse how research processes and practices are used in professional communication and media contexts, including ethical considerations
- Apply knowledge of communication and media research principles to develop methodologically and ethically sound research design.
- Analyse and interpret research outputs using clear and concise language to explain their design implications for communication research and practice.
- Report the results of communication and media research using different formats relevant to the sector, and for distribution across a variety of platforms
