Course overview
This course will enable students to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills learnt throughout their degree to a professional experience. Students will undertake an industry-focussed experience that may include an industry placement, industry research project or consultancy. The real-world experience gained will provide personal growth and development relevant to their program and graduate career aspirations. Students will also be encouraged to critically reflect and analyse the experience from both professional and personal perspectives, including the workplace practices experienced and how their studies helped inform their role.
Course learning outcomes
- Gain professional experience through an internship, project or other WIL experience in an industry relevant to their program.
- Articulate and plan towards career goals, contextualising steps towards these within the professional experience activity and supporting these through development of a professional-standard resume and portfolio.
- Demonstrate understandings of professionalism as it pertains to the discipline, and of connections between academic learning and professional practice.
- Apply the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies to undertake relevant professional tasks and produce effective outputs, and reflect critically on this experience.
