Course overview

This course will advance student understanding of film aesthetics as it intersects with Hollywood techniques of storytelling and the demands of commercial entertainment. Students will examine film as an entertainment product, connecting it to earlier histories, forms and aesthetics of popular entertainment. In the practical components of the course students will draw on the key structures and devices of these traditions to produce works of audio-visual entertainment.
