Course overview
Digital Mediascapes expands student understanding of media production by considering how aspects of digital media intersect with local and global issues of space, aesthetics, personal, political, cultural and public life. Drawing on interdisciplinary studies, students will experiment with the affordances of digital media to explore the potential for new types of screen-based narratives.
Course learning outcomes
- Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of the continuities and the differences between traditional screen media and contemporary digital media formats
- Critically analyse how digital technologies have altered the social, cultural and political potential of narrative media
- Apply advanced theoretical and practical approaches to digital storytelling
- Work in teams to produce transmedia storytelling plans and content
