Course overview

This course enables students to examine the role of promotional culture in contemporary society. Students will have the opportunity to analyse and apply key theoretical concepts to contemporary promotional culture, examine how promotional messages and texts are constructed using persuasive communication devices, and critically analyse the social impacts of promotional culture in shaping media and communication industries, consumer culture, and everyday life.

  • Explain, analyse and critique how promotional texts are constructed to position or influence audiences.
