Course overview
This course introduces students to the contextual, technical and conceptual knowledge required to tell captivating audio-focused stories, which have become an important medium for storytelling, education, and entertainment across a range of contexts, topics and formats. Through exploration of the historical and technological contexts that have facilitated the development of podcasting and other audio-dominant storytelling forms, students will build a critically informed understanding of their potentials and practicalities. They will extend this knowledge by creating their own audio stories which demonstrate technical audio production skills and reflect an understanding of the medium.

- Demonstrate an understanding of the history, context, and distinctiveness of audio-based, mediated storytelling
- Articulate a theoretically informed critique of an example of podcast storytelling
- Apply theoretical knowledge and practical skills learned in the course through the production of a podcast or audio story
