Course overview

This course combines theoretical and practical knowledge of digital image making with media analysis, critical engagement, and creative thinking. Learning activities blend creative activities in photography and video making with an examination of key media texts and theoretical approaches to unpacking and thinking with and about digital visual media. The role of lower cost, consumer grade technologies and distribution platforms will be unpacked. Students will explore digital cultures, ethical practices, and contemporary media ecologies, alongside emerging technologies such as AI for digital production, developing a reflective and critical approach to understanding the relationship between digitality and visuality.
